Santa Maria City Council meetings will begin at 5:30 p.m., an hour earlier, beginning Tuesday.

Starting regular meetings earlier is meant to allow the opportunity for more discussion time on agenda items, as well as provide the opportunity to finish meetings earlier.

On Aug. 1, the council adopted an ordinance changing the start time.

Regular meetings of the City Council are held on the first and third Tuesdays of the month in Council Chambers at City Hall, 110 E. Cook St., unless otherwise specified.
