Central Coast running and exercise enthusiasts of all ages are invited to participate in the South County Youth Coalition’s 20th Annual Fun Run event.

The Fun Run event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 7, at the softball field at Nipomo Community Park located on Tefft Street and Pomeroy Road. The community event, which precedes the Nipomo Octoberfest, is a non competitive four-mile run, a two mile walk, and a half mile kids run for children 12 years of age and younger. All Fun Run funds raised benefit local youth programs and families in need.

“The Annual Fun Run is an exciting community-oriented event for both the young and the old,” said Laurie Morgan, chair of the South County Youth Coalition. “I encourage all community members to participate in this worthwhile event where they will enjoy a morning of exercise while raising money for a worthy cause."

Twenty years ago Nipomo High School counselor Joe Hubbell organized the inaugural Fun Run event to benefit youth sports, music, art and other enrichment activities for local students in need. All funds donated by business sponsors, community members and participant fees are for scholarships for youth in south San Luis Obispo County.
