Two Santa Maria men were arrested after they allegedly tried to kill a co-worker and former roommate in rural Arroyo Grande that morning.
Hector Tinoco Agustin, 20, and Jonathan Tinoco, 24, were arrested Friday night on suspicion of attempted murder at their Santa Maria residence by members of the Santa Maria Police Department Special Enforcement Team, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Department.
Detectives allegedly located a stolen pistol and an assault rifle inside the residence.
About 9:30 a.m., San Luis Obispo County sheriff’s deputies were called to a local hospital where a man, who was not identified, was being treated for a laceration on his back, sheriff’s spokesman Tony Cipolla said.
The victim told deputies he was attacked at a job site near the 200 block of Price Canyon Road by two co-workers he had been living with until recently and that the two had brandished a firearm at him the night before in Santa Maria, Cipolla said.
Sheriff’s detectives obtained arrest warrants for the two suspects and a search warrant for their home, which were served Friday night by the Santa Maria Special Enforcement Team.
The suspects were booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail.
The investigation into the incident is continuing, Cipolla said.
