A Grover Beach woman was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly spraying a 7-year-old child in the face with a poisonous weed killer, according to the Grover Beach Police Department.

Julie Rodenhuis, 60, was taken into custody at about 7:15 p.m. after officers were dispatched to a condominium complex in the 600 block of North 12th Street for reports of an assault on a child. Officers found that Rodenhuis approached the child and sprayed her in the eyes and face with weed killer, according to the police department.

The child was immediately treated by family members and emergency medical personnel that were called to the scene, and also received treatment at a local hospital. The child has since been released, police said.

Rodenhuis was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, battery with serious injury and child endangerment. She was booked at San Luis Obispo County Jail. Her bail is set at $100,000.

This would have never happened if we had stricter background checks for who gets to but dangerous weed killers. Not One More!

We need tough weed killer control laws now!

Would an explanation make any difference? She's crazy and deserves to be put away.
