Alberto Diaz Jr., 32, of Guadalupe was the victim of the fatal stabbing Friday night in northern Santa Maria, police announced today.

Officers were called to a parking lot in the 1000 block of North Broadway, near Bunny Street, at 5:39 p.m. Friday on a report of a stabbing, according to police Lt. Chris Vaughn.

Diaz, who was not immediately identified, suffered a severe laceration, Vaughn said, and was treated by paramedics before being transported to Marian Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.

Police are investigating the stabbing as a possible gang-related homicide.

It was the second violent fatality in that area of Santa Maria in as many days.

On Thursday morning, a 24-year-old man was fatally shot by police on Agnes Avenue in the same area as tonight’s killing.

Samyr Ceballos, a documented West Park gang member, was killed in front of his home in the 300 block of Agnes Avenue in an exchange of gunfire, wounding two officers, as they tried to stop his car during a narcotics investigation.

Police have made no arrests in the stabbing.

Good. Two down and just a couple thousand more to go.

Good, more worm food.

What does that say on his forehead?

DottieL

This town is being taken over by the gangs. Something has to be done about this. Maybe a few more will try to draw guns against the police that are trying to protect the citizens and get what that other one got yesterday.

Abouttime

The tat on his forehead says "Shoot me Please", the one on his neck must says, " Useless". Or is it the other way around?

I want to say something. I'm new here. Just visiting for an extended time. I love parts of your city. The weather is beautiful. I've met a lot of nice people here. But the direction your city is headed in is not good. This is mild right now compared to where I live near Chicago...Fight, Fight like h*ll right here, right now! Find money to budget a gang task force because if you don't it will get a lot worse. You haven't seen anything yet. This is peaceful to me. Where I'm from we have the same amount of people, but way more cops and gang task forces. You need to be running these gangster's out of here now. And with the amount of anchor babies and other young immigrant children who are from a whole different area. You must begin to get in your schools and get these kids "VESTED" as much as you possibly can to their community here. Sell them on caring about this place, Because in 15 to 20 years all these new children will be at that age where things can go in the wrong direction. They will be the gangs and they will outnumber you. You got to get them to care about the community they live in...when they don't, well prepare for a war zone cause that's what this place is going to be in 20 years if you don't step up as a community right here and right now and work together as one to save your city!!! I don't mean any disrespect. I'm honored to enjoy your city till I go home and I just wanted to share some advice to Santa Maria which seems to be headed to a Mexico cartel mentality of violence and drugs.

This is real awful that you all are saying cruel things about him. Noboby in this world is purfect,I dont condone in gang violence but you should have more respect for his family, They are good caring people. He was someones son, brother, uncle, friend etc. Killing does not solve problems it just results into more. My heart and prayers goes out to his parents and siblings, im so terribly sorry for your loss. He was a good person despite all what you see, he had a heart just like every one else! Stormy i will truley miss you and im sorry for not keeping in touch.

To me when you look closely at the photo, it looks like the tattoos are photoshopped.

Ken

He was not stabbed. He was sliced ear to ear. I hear very messy.

SantaMariaGoneWild

WOW and WOW. Well, when you tattoo "SURENO" (Hispanic gang member from Southern "Sur" California) literally on your forehead, you are making a lifelong commitment to the gang life (drugs, crime, killing, prison and hurting others). Santa Maria HAS to wake up and realize this is a HUGE problem and do everything in it's power as a city AND ask for County and Federal help to deal with this! It's going to get A LOT worse if drastic measures are not taken!

Anita Job

Rochelle from Hanford - where did he work? I want to know who would hire him with "sureno" tatted on his forehead - I'm sure he has a family and they are saddened by his death but with the tats on his body I'm sure they knew there would be consequences to that.
what was he doing over there? Getting a king burger for his family? I doubt it

itsok2bsmart

Sure, this Diaz has what looks to be photoshopped tattoos on his forehead and neck. Look closely... However, what gang do you think the other two boys arrested/wanted for this crime are in? Both Jacob and Christopher Brewer are 3/4 Caucasian and 1/4 Hispanic. Their mother, Elizabeth Brewer, the 42 old meth addict who was arrested a month or two in Casmalia for shooting and driving into police officers is half Caucasian and half Hispanic. Last I checked I'm not sure what Mexican or Hispanic gang would let Caucasian boys in...unless this is a Guadalupe gang where Caucasian boys are let in. So, obviously, this isn't about race, may not fully be about Mexican gangs as is commonly portrayed in this area, but is mostly about narcotics or some sort of vendetta they were accomplishing for their mother.

Forgot to mention the Brewer boys' father is full Caucasian. Anyway, it was interesting to note that these two boys were hanging around much older Mexicans? Why??? My best bet is still because of narcotics and that is what is ruining our city.

Really whats done is done, its here nor there if he had a job or even what he was doing in that area. People like you feed off of this kind of stuff and he is gone now so if any of you have any sympaty or respect for a human being then just leave the negative comment out please. They caught the guys for this horrible crime and two are still at large, so if anything why dont you bash them. They are still alive while all this negative talk should be focused on them, not a person who is dead now.I do however agree that all this gang crime has really gotten out of control, especially over there where its all about what town you are from. I have yet to understand it but its so over-rated[quote]Anita Job said: "Rochelle from Hanford - where did he work? R.I.P Stormy.....God will take care of the rest!

You are right and I apologize for my comments – It is just that his tattoos are very scary to say the least. I do feel bad for his family and the fact that he died the way he did.

RAIDERGIRL89

Look everyone will say what they want to say and only a handful know the truth. This man will be painted as a saint no matter what people say, he will be remembered as a VICTIM of a violent crime. If you tattoo what he tattooed on his body and face etc, he committed himself tho the lifestyle he died from- period, the same way i committed my life to god. If he wanted out of the lifestyle and had truly changed his ways like many are professing, there are free agencies that will help pay for tattoo removal... especially for gang members... so this young man made a conscious choice to continue to make his lifestyle choice and his devotion to his clique known. My condolences to the family- noone to deserves to be killed in cold blood..... lesson to be learned from all of this for many many people!

uscmom

Why is Santa Maria tolerating the esclating gang crime and violence? It appears SM is just able/willing to treat the "symptoms" of this deadly disease. Treating only symptoms of any deadly disease always results in disaster unless one has no intention of eradicating the root cause. {i.e. the disease is terminal and a decision to only provide palliative care has been made]

Is that what is going on here?? I am really confused.
Is there some political reason I do not understand that has allowed these gangs to flourish and basically take over? Killing them one by one is a horrific way to attack this problem. Who's in charge and who is making these difficult decisions. We need outside help and we need it now.
I agree that we need new and different leadership if we are going to have any hope at all of attacking this very serious and complex problem.

I only knew alberto for a short time but what most of u people are saying about him is absolutely wrong to be saying about a dead man. My condolences to the family. RIP Stormy.

RAIDERGIRL89 you have a valid point, however I would like to point out that regardless of what this man looked like he was still a victim who's life was cut short at the hands of another human. The Bible states "Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of judgment" Matthew 5:21 It also states "Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven" Luke 6:37 I did not know Mr. Diaz and it is easy to judge a person for the obvious reasons (tattoos) but NOBODY is free of sin or mistakes in their life. How do you know that he was not trying to better his life? He could of had a upcoming consultation to get the help he needed to have those tattoos removed, its a long process. So I would like to remind you that unless you knew him personally and know for a fact that he had no intentions of making a better life for himself as the people who DID know him have stated, then maybe as a woman of God, you sould not cast judgement on a man who's family is grieving his loss.

itsok2bsmart

Off the subject, but the SM Times really should post arrest records from our community, instead of places like San Diego, Ventura, etc. Unless, of course, they aren't receiving them from the powers that be...

UknwMe

guess wat Ppl Mr.Diaz Was A Gang member at one Time..He Did Make The Mistake if putting tattoes on his face..he was in n out of prison..I would know Cuz I knew him personally..And Knew He Was A Changed Man Who Choose To Give That Up..He Excepted God As His Leader Which Lead To This..Street Terms He WA" No Good" according To Every Gang Member Out In Santa N Guadelupe..They Were Bound To Get Him Just Cuz He Chose Out..Another Thing This Godly Lady Talking On The Bey U Didn't Know He Was Scheduled Sunday To Be Bautist Maybe Not In Ur Church..But In The EU's Of The Lord He Was..PPL look Into Ur Stuff B4 anything.
This Rudy Ramos Was Back For Retaliation on Few Months BK I heard HR was also Stabbed in the same exact Location??..Umm so happened to be he found a Wat they call a guadster which was no good n for him in prison will get him points..Boo!!.Albert Was A Great Person Besides all His Mistakes From ChildHood..In My Eyes He's Good N Slays Will Be Missed..He's a Lover, friend, brother n son..EVERYONE HAS A RIGHT TO CHANGE

Anita Job

UknwMe - I give you credit for trying to write about your friend and I think a few of us "got" what you were trying to say but please re--read it - In some parts it made no sense. I'm still trying to figure out what he was going to do on Sunday.

I am a thorough believer in god, the bible and everything in it.... and i dont believe in death for anyone. I stated "My condolences to the family- noone to deserves to be killed in cold blood..... lesson to be learned from all of this for many many people!" i in no way condone what happened... its senseless and evil.... i was just stating that there are free agencies all over this area that help ex gang members etc have these clique markings removed. Noone deserves to die, god is the only judge and jury. Have a blessed day

Thank you, SM Times, for posting the arrest records for local crimes. Now we can see that David Brewer was arrested for drugs a day before his two brothers, Jacob and Christopher, were somehow involved with this murder.

Aw and the poor guy looks like a poster child for the March of Dimes too !!

Orcutt reader: What does the tat say ? From what i can figure out it says " because of my ingenious decision to get a tattoo on my face, I will be a strawberry picker for the rest of my life". Hope that clears it up for you...

I wouldn't mention strawberry picking unless I had done it myself. Mr. Diaz was also a United States citizen, born in this country.

Mr. Smart: And so ? It's all in the heritage there buckwheat !
