Suspect in Buellton car burglaries arrested in Arroyo Grande

A man believed responsible for a number of vehicle burglaries in Buellton was arrested for several suspected felony violations following a foot pursuit Saturday in Arroyo Grande, and police credited citizens’ involvement for his apprehension.

Pooyan Eslambolipour of Arroyo Grande was booked on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, a felon in possession of ammunition, a felon committing a crime while out on bail, felony possession of stolen property and a felony arrest warrant for possession of stolen property, said Det. Sgt. Shawn Cosgrove.

Arroyo Grande Police Department officers responded to an undisclosed neighborhood shortly after 8:30 a.m. when a citizen reported seeing a man remove a box from a vehicle and conceal it in some bushes near a residence.

While searching the bushes, police found a firearm and were informed by another area resident that the man had been seen acting suspiciously in a nearby neighborhood, Cosgrove said.

That resident was able to provide police with enough information for them to locate the suspect and his vehicle, prompting a short foot pursuit that ended with the arrest of Eslambolipour.

A subsequent search of his car allegedly turned up multiple pieces of property stolen in vehicle burglaries in Buellton, Cosgrove said.

He added that Eslambolipour’s arrest “would not have occurred without the residents getting involved and immediately reporting the suspicious behavior.”
