Community members 90 and older were serenaded and celebrated Wednesday during Santa Maria's 14th Celebration of Life Luncheon at the Veterans' Memorial Community Center.
The event specifically celebrates residents at least 90 years old or who will turn 90 on or before the end of the year.
A handful of the event attendees celebrated their 100th-plus birthdays, as well, at the center that was packed with family and friends.
Besides a special luncheon, the Sweet Adeline’s women’s barbershop style chorus serenaded the honorees.
The Celebration of Life event began in 2004 during the city’s Centennial Celebration and continues thanks to the sponsorships from several community groups. Santa Maria Noontime Kiwanis, Santa Maria Breakfast Rotary and the city of Santa Maria are the lead partners that help make the event possible.
