Santa Maria police are searching for a man who robbed the Wells Fargo bank at 407 E. Main St. around 1:20 p.m. today.
The suspect, who is in his 50s or 60s, approached a teller and produced a note demanding cash that also indicated he was armed with a gun, according to police.
The teller gave him an undisclosed amount of cash and he was last seen walking toward the parking lot with the money.
The man appeared to be a possible transient and has a 2-inch scar on the right side of his face, police said.
He may have been riding a mountain bike.
