Cuyama 4-H club participates in town's first Christmas parade

The Cuyama Valley 4-H Club took second place in the town's first Christmas parade on Dec. 1.

There were four floats, with the Cuyama Valley firetruck bringing up the rear.

The floats went up and down the streets while residents enjoyed the parade from their front yards. It ended at the Rec Hall, where people gathered for hot cocoa and cookies. 

There was a tree-lighting ceremony and caroling. 

It was a chilly night, but about 200 residents came out for the event.

Float winners were:

  • First place: Rec Hall, which received $100;
  • Second place: Cuyama Valley 4-H Meat Goat project, $75; and
  • Third place: Old Cuyama Hardware store, $50.

Prizes were sponsored by the Cuyama Valley Exchange Club.
