Four hundred Five Cities families in need recently received boxes of food and Christmas gifts from the annual St. Patrick’s Outreach Christmas Basket Project.

Family members were also offered the opportunity to select gently used clothing that was donated to the project operated by St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Individuals, businesses, school and neighborhood food drives, monetary contributions, donations from local markets and local growers allowed volunteers to fill the boxes with fresh vegetables, rolls, nonperishable food items and even turkeys.

“This undertaking could not have been accomplished without the generous help of the local community ... ,” a project spokesman said.

“We are so fortunate to live in such a caring community that came together to help those less fortunate this Christmas.”
