This first of two fundraisers for a church mission trip to Costa Rica was held Saturday in the gym at Los Olivos School.

The spaghetti dinner fundraiser benefits a group of more than 40 people from the Santa Ynez Valley and others outside the Valley who are scheduled to leave Feb. 14 for nine days to La Montana Christian Camp.

Trattorio Grappolo in Santa Ynez catered the event that included a silent auction and highlights of other recent mission trips.

Joe and Clara Pent, members of Santa Ynez Valley Presbyterian Church, are the camp founders and have been missionaries to Central America for more than 50 years.
