Stacey V. Mineau

Stacey V. Mineau (Gibbons), 56, of Garey, CA, passed away at home peacefully on Tuesday, March 6th, 2018, with her family by her side. She was born on July 22, 1961, to Laurence and Isabella “Ella” Gibbons in Lompoc, California, while Laurence was stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base. When her father retired from the military, her parents bought the Garey store and moved the family to Garey, California. She attended Blochman Elementary School, where she made lifelong friends who became more like family, and have been by her side ever since. She loved the area so much that she stayed and raised a family with Russ, after graduating from Ernest Righetti High School.

Stacey loved her life and all of the people and animals in it. She had a passion for caring for her dogs, horses, birds, and every other animal she collected. She loved horseback riding, gardening, reading, and helping others. She enjoyed every aspect of life in the most meaningful way, always finding ways to make the day brighter for someone else. Stacey was a homemaker who also cleaned houses in her spare time for “fun money”, but she truly enjoyed helping others and appreciated good conversation as the best form of payment. In the later part of her life, she lived for spending time with the children that meant the world to her: Ryder, Adelise, Owen, David, and most recently, her great goddaughter, Keagan. She was, and forever will be, adored by them.

She is survived by her husband Russell H. Mineau, daughter Joleen Bouwmeester and her husband Bruce, son Russell “Willy” Mineau and his wife Elisabeth, and 3 grandchildren, Adelise, Owen and David.

A celebration of life will be hosted by family and friends on Saturday, March 17th, from 2-6pm. Please contact for details.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted to the Stacey Mineau Memorial Fund set up at Coasthills Federal Credit Union, for the construction of a community park bench in her honor.
