Nancy Ellen Neitzel
Nancy Ellen Neitzel was born in Burbank, CA October 7th, 1948 to Kermit E. Neitzel and Mary E. Harvey Neitzel, and passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at home after a long bout with cancer.
Nancy graduated from Fresno State College and she worked for Lilla Travel as manager for 35 years after which she worked for Rabobank for nearly five years. She was a lifetime member of DAR. She turned eighteen years old just in time to become one of the twelve founding members. Nancy served in capacities as Regent, Treasurer and District VII Director. Captain Henry Sweetser Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, has awarded her the title of Honorary Chapter Regent.
Nancy was also a member of Daughters of the American Colonists serving in many capacitites within this organization. Nancy was very active in her church, Lutheran Church of Our Savior and served on the altar guild, stewardship committee and as treasurer for many years. She will be fondly remembered by her many friends as the "hat lady", as she always wore beautiful hats to church.
Nancy was the most thoughtful, generous and loving person. She loved to travel and has travelled the world over, many times.
Nancy is survived by her sister Margaret E. Hebrard of Willits and her husband Raymond L Hebrard, nephews Michael and Daniel Hebrard, two brothers Kermit H. Neitzel of Georgetown, KY and his wife Virginia, niece Mary and nephews Alexander Neitzel and Steven Dorazio and brother Kenneth C. Neitzel of Valencia, his wife Catherine Corsaro, nephews Christopher, Joseph and nieces Tamera and twins Samantha and Tara Neitzel.
She was preceded in death by her younger brother James E. A. Neitzel in 1980 and parents Mary E. Harvey Neitzel in 1981 and Kermit E. Neitzel in 2002.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy's honor to Lutheran Church of Our Savior altar guild or youth fund in Santa Maria, or to Dignity Health Hospice.
