Judith Turk

After a short, courageous battle with cancer, Judith Turk, age 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by all those who loved her deeply on March 31, 2013.

Judith was born in Lompoc, California on December 9, 1943 and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Edwina Colli. Her family moved from the Lompoc ranch to the Santa Maria ranch in 1946. She attended Miller Street Elementary School, El Camino Junior High School, and graduated in 1961 from Santa Maria High School. She was married to Jim Turk for 51 years and had two daughters. She worked for a short period time as a Teachers Aide at Oakley Elementary School while her children attended school.

She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, housewife, mother, grandmother, and friend who always unselfishly put others before herself. Judith loved life and family and loved caring for and spending lots of time with her precious granddaughters. Grandma Judy was not only their grandmother but their best friend. Her granddaughters were the ones who gave her the strength to fight harder each day as she struggled with her illness. All she wanted to see before her passing was one more high school graduation and a wedding. What hurts the most of her passing will be walking into her home and not being able to get a warm embrace, hearing her cheerful voice and talking to her as a best friend, and that she wont have the opportunity to see and hold her great grandbabies. She was so deserving of that lifetime moment!

Judy is survived by her husband Jim, daughters and son-in-laws Carolyn and Charlie Carroll of Solvang and Susie and Larry Brannon of Santa Maria. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law Billy and Peggy Colli of Santa Maria, sister and brother-in-law Debbie and Mike Ramos of Nipomo, grandchildren Jennifer, Erica and Amanda Brannon of Santa Maria, Ashley Carroll of Solvang and numerous nieces and nephews. Judith touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity.

The Turk family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the wonderful nurses and staff at Marian Extended Care Center for their kind and loving care of Judith and for the support they gave to her family.

Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 10:00 am in the chapel of Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary followed by interment at the Santa Maria Cemetery.

Friends if they so desire can make memorials in memory of Judith Turk to Marian Medical Center Foundation and note on check for MECC (Marian Extended Care Center) at 1400 East Church Street, Santa Maria, CA 93454.

Arrangements are under the direction of Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary, Crematory and Memory Gardens.
