On Oct. 3, 2017, Lupe Zubia went to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born in Chihuahua, Mexico on February 8, 1931 and resided in Santa Maria since 1949. She studied extensively in Chihuahua & Guadalajara, Mexico, in the nursing and educational fields. She was gifted in making floral arrangements and cakes. Her hobbies included fishing, gardening and raising birds. Lupe was a devoted Christian, and was one of the original founders of Getsemani Baptist Church. All 8 of her children came to know the Lord because of her faithfulness and Godly example. In her later years of life, she fellowshipped at New Life Community Church in Pismo, California. She was involved in the following ministries: Doll Making, Women's Ministries, People's Kitchen, and many others. Survivors include her brother Carlos Rodriguez (Nelly), her children David Zubia (Rosa), Jim Zubia, Emma Zubia-Perales (Jesse), Lorene Camacho (Eleno), Nancy Kerr (Richard), Margaret Martinez (Rick), Martha Morales (Anthony), Sahara Zubia; 22 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren on the way, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Anita Rodriguez, mother-in-law Agueda Ordoñez; husband Manuel Zubia, and sister Evangelina Salazar. Lupe was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be greatly missed.
Services will held at New Life Community Church in Pismo Beach on Friday, Oct. 20th at 10:00 am.
