St. Joseph quarterback Dino Maldonado put together elite performances in back-to-back games.
For his efforts, Maldonado was voted to back-to-back SMT Player of the Week awards.
Maldonado won the Week Two honor after leading St. Joseph to a dominant win over St. Bonaventure, throwing four TDs without an interception. He also threw 4 TDs in the win against Righetti, landing him the Week One honor.
Maldonado hauled in 223 votes across all three websites of Lee Central Coast Newspapers for Week Two.
All of this year's winners of the SMT POTW award have been quarterbacks, with Maldonado winning it twice and Santa Ynez signal-caller Dustin Gregg taking the honor in Week Zero. That may change this week with a slew of non-QBs up for the honor.
Maldonado completed 20 of 27 passes for 286 yards and four scores in the win over the Seraphs on Sept. 8.
The QB beat out Santa Maria standout Jonathan Ramos, who totaled 75 votes on the week after compiling this stat-line: 3 catches, 115 yards, 2 TDs; 4 tackles (2 solo), 2 tackles for loss; INT 59-yard return; 51-yard punt; safety.
Maldonado teammate Jayden Vargas was third in the voting with 39 total votes. Vargas had 215 yards on 25 carries and two scores against the Seraphs.
Santa Maria's Bobby Ruiz was fourth with 26 total votes after his solid week: 14 carries, 125 yards, 2 TDs; 6 tackles (3 solo), 2 sacks; INT.
