Local baseball fans will have plenty of area youth baseball to see this weekend.

Arroyo Grande and Lompoc teams will be in Babe Ruth and Little League Tournaments, and the schedule is heavy.

Arroyo Grande hosts the Central California Babe Ruth 14-year-old State Tournament at Porter Field in the Soto Sports Complex in Arroyo Grande. The host team will take on District 1 champion San Benito at 7 p.m. tonight.

Lompoc will play Wasco of District 8 at 4 p.m. today. Arroyo Grande and Lompoc finished one-two at the District 6 state qualifier last week.

Little League District 65 11-12 division winner Arroyo Grande will play in the Section One Tournament that starts today in Nipomo. Arroyo Grande will play at 1 p.m.

The tournaments are both double elimination.

If the Lompoc and Arroyo Grande 14-year-old squads both win, they will play each other at 7 p.m., Saturday. If Lompoc falls today, it will play at 10 a.m. Saturday. If Arroyo Grande loses tonight, it will play at 1 p.m., Saturday.

Orcutt’s 13 and 15-year-old Babe Ruth squads won respective District 6 championships en route to qualifying for Central California state tournaments. They are both on the road, along with Lompoc’s 15-year-olds and Santa Maria’s 13-year-olds.

The Orcutt and Lompoc 15-year-olds play in Fowler today. Orcutt faces Sanger of District 3 at 2 p.m. Lompoc, the District 6 runner-up, plays Lodi of District 1 at 5 p.m.

Orcutt’s 13-year-olds take on District 4 runner-up Hanford at 1 p.m., today in Hollister. Santa Maria, the District 6 runner-up, plays District 4 champion Tulare at 10 a.m., today.

All three Babe Ruth tournaments run today through Tuesday.

Arroyo Grande’s Babe Ruth and Little League teams took disparate paths to their respective championships. The Arroyo Grande 11-and-12-year-olds sailed through the District 65 Little League tournament unbeaten. Arroyo Grande’s 14-year-olds defeated Lompoc twice last Saturday to come out of the elimination bracket to win the District 6 Babe Ruth tournament.
