Marvelous cast, great production aid this popular American musical
The biggest problem for a director of a musical with more than 40 cast members is how to get everyone involved and establish the energy needed.
For PCPA Artistic Director Mark Booher, who is directing the latest production, “Ragtime,” the remedy was simple: Bring all 40-plus cast members on the stage together at the very beginning of the play for a rousing prologue, get the entire cast involved and feed off the energy of the opening night crowd.
With the tremendous opening number completed, the story was then able to flow, and as it was on opening night at the Marian Theater, the latest PCPA Theaterfest production was a triumph.

Movie review: A 'Journey' worth taking
Based on the Jules Verne classic novel, “Journey to the Center of the Earth” endures yet another incarnation (in a long line of cinematic renderings) as director Eric Brevig puts his spin on this rather beloved material.

Movie review: 'WALL-E' is a charmer
"WALL-E” is by far the best movie of the year so far. And not just the best animated movie, but the best movie. It has everything one could want: a sympathetic main character, a good story-line, some romance, and it’s not just fluff — it makes some serious comments on life. And as an added bonus, it is a movie both adults and children can enjoy.

Movie review: ‘Hancock’ falls flat, fizzles out
Directed by Peter Berg, “Hancock” benefits from the charming screen presence of Will Smith and Jason Bateman, but falls a bit flat due to a storyline that begins with promise and humor before fizzling out. In a spring and summer filled with sci-fi fantasy offerings, the script by Vincent Ngo and Vince Gilligan doesn’t quite measure up to the more cohesive “Iron Man” or “Wanted.”
